The Silence of the Image – Exhibition for the 80th Anniversary of the Birth of István Zoltánfy (Black House)
An exhibition of István Zoltánfy's works can be seen at the Black House in Szeged on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the painter's birth. The exhibition "The Silence of the Image" presents the different phases and themes of his work through more than 70 works. The exhibition is open in the Black House until 31st December 2024.
The exhibition presents the oeuvre in four thematic sections. The first group relates to a system of relationships: paintings that are based on the great predecessors (painters, genres, styles) and art historical traditions. The second theme is the family, where not only personal relations of kinship and friendship are involved, but also the idea of "humanity as family". In the third group, we will find works about Szeged, the city he loved, while the fourth group will present paintings depicting villages and farms.
The exhibition features paintings from private collectors, the Móra Ferenc Museum and several local governments (Szeged, Hódmezővásárhely, Deszk). We conclude the exhibition with a special idea: we have left different surfaces free for further paintings. We hope that more private collectors will feel like lending their Zoltánfy works to the exhibition, so that even previously unknown works may turn up.
The exhibition is open in the Black House from 10th October 2024 until 31st December 2024.
