Szeged Press press photo exhibition (Móra Ferenc Museum)

From 22 February to 27 April 2025, the first Szeged Press photo exhibition is on display at the Móra Ferenc Museum. The jury has selected the best photos from the press photo competition announced in the autumn of 2024: a total of 70 photos are be on display.
In autumn 2024, the Ferenc Móra Museum launched a new initiative. The Szeged Press press photo competition was open to photographs taken in Szeged and/or Csongrád-Csanád county and illustrating the events there in a press photo-like manner. The competition was open not only to professional press photographers, but also to anyone taking press photography.
The call was well received, with 42 photographers submitting entries, bringing the total number of entries to over 350.This huge pool of photos was reviewed by a jury of experts who selected the 70 best images to be included in the Szeged Press exhibition. The members of the jury were: György Németh, photojournalist-photographer; Mihály Dömötör, museum photographer-photographer; András Bakos, journalist.
The photographs in the Szeged Press photo exhibition show many sides of Szeged and the county. Iconic buildings such as the Dóm Square, lit up at Christmas, or the Ferenc Móra Museum and the fountain in front of it are shown. We can see captured moments from the Szőreg Rose Festival, the Somogyi Library or the Tisza bank, the so called "Lapos".Visitors also get a glimpse of exciting moments from sporting events and rarely seen aspects of everyday life.
The best three photos:
1st place: Cecilia Fajka (Nóra's story)
2nd place: Ferenc Ocskó (Secret Library)
3rd place: Balázs Tóth (Sunny Lapos)
The intention of the Ferenc Móra Museum is to give the excellent photographers of Szeged and the county the opportunity to present themselves in such a unique form.
The exhibition is open until 27 April 2025.
