Ödön Márffy

was in Paris at about the same time as Picasso, and the circus performers also caught his attention. Unlike Picasso, however, Márffy was not primarily concerned with the symbolism of the circus stage, but rather with the inexhaustible movement of colours, lights, and forms, which he captured with remarkable brilliance in his works.
