Our present time is also an ice age
An ice age is the period of time over millions of years when part of our planet’s surface is covered by expanded contiguous ice sheets.
Ice ages start with a slow cooling and then an accumulation of ice. On a geological scale, the ice age begins with short, extreme climate changes.
There have been several such periods in the Earth’s four and a half billions of years of history. Geological traces of the ice ages can still be found today.
