In addition to his paintings and sculptures, Picasso produced countless drawings; after his death, an estimated 10,000–12,000 of them were counted. He particularly enjoyed experimenting with various printing processes, such as zincography, lithography, and linocut. Brassaï wrote the following about Picasso’s drawings: “If I had to choose from among all his works, I would opt for his drawings without hesitation. His character unfolds most freely when his pen is running wild across the paper. I believe his genius is revealed most directly at such moments. The source gushes forth clearly.”
